What is an Origami ConVase?

(有关瓶盆设计之中文网页,请浏览http://origamiconvasechinese.blogspot.com)

Would you believe it if I said that these origami models are folded with identical procedures?
Some members of the Origami Octa-ConVase Family

They are indeed folded with the same steps except for slight changes in alignment for a step or two - that is the fascination I discovered and enjoyed about paper folding.

 "One and the Same"- ConVase

To me, they are "one and the same". Do I call them vases or containers? Except for two of them, language purists will not be happy to call them vases. As the creator of the series, I naturally would prefer something fancy and thought "ConVase", as in "Container/Vase", sounded quite nice.

Here is a family photo of my Quadra-ConVases:

Quadra-ConVase & Octa-Convase Series

The above group is developed from a square base, hence the name Quadra-ConVase. The previous ones are called Octa-ConVase because they all have an octagon bottom.

And yes most of them within the same series can be transformed from one form to another with an easy tweak - who would think that the two below are actually "one and the same":

Theoretically there are unlimited possible variances between the two, but in practice one probably would  only need  a handful as evidenced in the OctaConVase family photo earlier.

Are they my creation?!....

Have you seen any of these models before? Hopefully not! Because I developed these new models myself after looking for something more fancy then the common Star Box and 8-pointed Vase but could not find any after extensive searches on the internet.

The folding procedures of the Star Box and 8-pointed Vase which inspired my creations are easily obtained from the internet. In case you are wondering what they look like, here they are :

The so-called "8-pointed Vase" & the "Star Box"

However, the folding procedures of my models are not that difficult that I believe some experienced origami enthusiasts might have created them before. Please let me know if you have any input in this aspect!?

And this one is for X'mas...

X'mas is around the corner! Why not fold a few models to enhance the festive moods - be it a vase to display your plants, a container to hold your tidbits, a pencil holder, or just using them as waste collectors on your X'mas party table.

I'm wish they would become a talking piece for your festive gatherings:

Till the next post, my best wishes for a Merry Christmas!

I'm Looking Forward to Hearing From You............
